Abstract
This paper discusses the correlation between corruption and good governance. It avers that the major road block to growth and
development in Nigeria is graft popularly known as corruption as manifested in policy conception, formulation and implementation. Copious efforts are made to drawing analysis from the characters of Nigeria political leaders in relation to development. The paper critically examines both political and bureaucratic corruption as factors militating against economic development in the country despite all the politics and anticorruption measures put in place. The paper emphatically maintained that good governance and focused political leadership and the right ethical and attitudinal character are sine qua non for development.
